I noticed every time building Libsystem that there was a very slow phase
where the output consisted of many lines like `42 blocks`. This is
output from cpio and in brief testing it takes at least twice as long to
go through cpio for the simple copies we want to make. The interface is
very convenient but the performance penalty is very painful so I decided
to implement a function that emulates cpio's interface.
On my machine with a 7200 RPM HDD this speeds up the build from about
250 minutes to about 75 seconds, a factor of 200! I'm not certain the
results on modern hardware would be similarly positive so this could use
further testing.
`TargetConditionals.h` was missing several definitions, like
`TARGET_OS_TV` that are part of SDK 10.12 at least. And one that doesn't
seem to occur in any SDK afaict, `TARGET_OS_EMBEDDED_OTHER`.
I added the definitions from SDK 10.12 verbatim and defined
`TARGET_OS_EMBEDDED_OTHER` to be equal to `0`.
I think none of this works if `darwin.Libsystem` is used to build for
linux or iOS though so maybe this needs a more thorough fix?
This reverts 336d82617f because it's no
longer necessary.
If things build fine with `stdenvNoCC`, let them use that. If tools
might be prefixed, prepare for that, either by directly splicing or just
using the env vars provided by the wrapper setup-hooks.

Lots of stuff has gotten moved around. Many security libraries have been merged
into the Security monorepo. I’ve cleared them out for now, we will
need to modify Security to build them!
This also moves some things around to more clearly separate
bootstrapping the stdenv from everything else. We want the “normal”
mode to be the non-bootstrapped version. When you ask for “Security”,
you want the actual built software, not a crippled one.
- Add TARGET_OS_OSX to darwin.libSystem. Looks like something
introduced in 10.12. TARGET_OS_MAC is only set when building for
desktop (iOS will have TARGET_OS_MAC set)
- Bump darwin.dtrace
- Bump darwin.libpthread
- Remove SmartCardServices, libsecurity*, etc.
- Install some more headers for darling.
- Give cctools a dev output for the headers
- Update Libsystem to grab the headers from that dev output
- Don't include the headers in Darwin binutils, just as GNU Binutils no
longer does.
This requires some small changes in the stdenv, then working around the
weird choice LLVM made to hardcode @rpath in its install name, and then
lets us remove a ton of annoying workaround hacks in many of our Go
packages. With any luck this will mean less hackery going forward.
This reinstates the libSystem selective symbol export machinery we used
to have, but locks it to the symbols that were present in 10.11 and skips
the actual compiled code we put into that library in favor of the system
initialization code. That should make it more stable and less likely to
do weird stuff than the last time we did this.
Revert a revert of a merge that shouldn't have been in master but was intentionally in staging.
Next time I'll do this right after the revert instead of so far down the line...

I can't submit this in smaller units because the various components all
depend on one another during the stdenv bootstrap, so I think this is
the smallest sensible change I can make.
I also removed the symbol-hiding shenanigans in Libsystem. It might mess
up compatibility with 10.9 but I don't really want to support the added
complexity and I see little evidence of anyone else wanting to support
it. If someone cares, we might be able to revive compatibility, but for
now it'll stay like this.
This also changes the versioning scheme to be in more "human-meaningful"
terms, so instead of the internal release numbers we talk about 10.10.5
or 10.9.5.
